Bill joined Wood, Ris & Hames in 1992. Bill’s
practice focuses primarily on counseling clients
in employment matters and representing parties
in employment and civil rights related litigation.
He handles matters addressing discrimination based
on sex, age, race, religion, disability and national
origin, as well as claims for wrongful discharge
and harassment. He represents clients before administrative
agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission and the Colorado Civil Rights Division
as well as in lawsuits brought in state and federal
court. Bill routinely advises clients regarding
compliance with various state and federal employment
statutes and regulations as well as ways to avoid
potential litigation. He helps employers with
such things as drafting handbooks, enforcing non-competition
agreements, and disciplining or terminating problem
employees. In addition to employment law, Bill
has substantial trial and appellate experience
in general civil litigation and has handled cases
involving matters such as product liability, professional
negligence, construction defect, personal injury
and complex commercial litigation.
